Daddy and a Movie: Rango

Peace family. Once again we’re calling all dads, from all walks, to please come out and support the “Daddy and a Movie” series at Cylburn Arboretum.

The kind folks at Cylburn have granted us the opportunity to use the auditorium in the Vollmer Center to encourage dads and their families to come out and enjoy a FREE movie together.

We will have vendors there with refreshments and other products at cost. Our second feature will be Rango. Please join us for this feature and all future showings. Bring the whole family out and spread the word.

Please RSVP by calling Cylburn at 410-367 -2217

No one is both mother & father to their children

By Mark Echols

One of my favorite movies is Antwone Fisher. I believe that the movie appealed to me, as someone who regularly works with children. As a result of my work with children, I was particularly attuned to Antwone struggles to go through life as an abused and abandoned child. One of my favorite scenes in Antwone Fisher happened during his first break through therapy session. Read the rest of this entry »

The Playground Tour Pt. I

Peace family. Join us on Saturday, April 16th, at Druid Hill Park’s playground, from 2-6pm, for the first installment of The Playground Tour. Black Fathers invites you to bring out the entire family, for four hours of fun, sun, and service. Not only will we be climbing, running, kicking soccer balls and throwing footballs around the Baltimore Metropolitan area, we will also be partnering with local groups for park and playground clean up operations. Please send in your suggestions for places for us to visit with this initiative to blackfathersradio@gmail.com.

Wedded Bliss

Peace and blessings fam. I write to you from Teavolve, the site of the wedding reception for Mr. And Mrs. Juan Nance. Juan Nance, one of the most dedicated fathers I know, married the love of his life, Monokia Tyson approximately two hours ago at The Muslim Community Cultural Center. In a traditional muslim ceremony, attended by many friends and family, the three–including Juan’s , and now Kia’s, son Juan Jr.–became one. They became a solidified union. I salute this brother for all his hard work and dedication; his commitment to staying firmly involved in his son’s life, and being an example for him. Salute!! May God bless this union for eternity.
